Friday October 1st

History on the Bay & Festival Launch 
10am - 3pm

​Assembling at Raby Bay Marina  at 10am, we will sail from 
Doobawah - Raby Bay in Cleveland to Peel Island - Teerk Roo Ra,  exploring history with Troy White, Professor Christopher Lee, Dr Deborah Jordan, Elisabeth Gondwe and Avril Quaill. We will have lunch and officially launch the festival out on the bay, returning to Cleveland by mid afternoon.

For centuries before writing, stories were passed down by storytellers - Bring your family and join us for Storytime with Redland Council Libraries and listen to stories under the shady trees.  
Andrea Baldwin & Esther Bertram will be telling stories as well.

Starts : 1pm

Write a story in an afternoon with Natalie Sprite.
  • Open to both beginners and experienced writers.
  • 2.5 hours long (to allow for a tea break & stretch)
  • Bring what you need to write. This workshop is hands-on.​​​

Our special guests, comedians Anisa Nandaula, Ashwin Segkar and Ting Lim discuss the ins and outs of comedy writing.

Floating Book Club on the Dugong
Sunday 3rd October - from 10am.
Sponsored by The Moreton Bay Foundation & Sirromet. 
This event is being coordinated with the Southern Moreton Bay Islands Book Clubs & Redland Council Libraries.

Special book club packages have been created by Redland Council Libraries for Island Storytellers.  
​The Dugong departs from Lamb Island Jetty at 10am,11am & 12pm. 

The packages feature novels by writers appearing at the festival:
  1. Jean Harley Was Here by Heather Taylor-Johnson
  2. Repentance by Alison Gibbs
  3. The Newcomer by Laura Elizabeth Woollett
​Book clubs can request these books at Redland Council Libraries.
The first clubs to read these books are invited to have their discussion on a cruise in the bay. The authors will be there to meet their readers and join the discussion.  SOLD OUT

​​Come and meet Poets Jai Daemion, Jena Woodhouse and Heather Taylor-Johnson.
​Enjoy some spoken word and try your hand at writing a short poem to celebrate our beautiful natural setting.

Explore the way lyrics are written and how they change when put to music with our guests Esther Bertram, Joe Geia, Nicole Murray from Cloudstreet, John Willsteed from the Go-Betweens, and Vicky MacDonald of Mama Juju and the Jam Tarts, as they discuss the way song writing can change the world.
